While watching an old episode of Law and Order: SVU (an episode I hadn't seen before, of which there are very few), a character commented, "The historical figures I respect most aren't the ones who started wars, but those who brought about peace."
After hearing this statement, Kris hit pause on the TiVo and turned to me. "You know how many people know Winston Churchill. How many people do you think know who the prime minister was after him?"
Blink.
Crickets.
Bella howling in the distance outside.
"Um, I don't."
"Exactly. Peace, my ass."

Clement Attlee the first time around...
Anthony Eden the second time around, Kris was probably looking for
Attlee though.
Either way, Chamberlain was prime minister at the outbreak of WWII.
At least at the beginning of fighting, not sure about the actual
declaration of war. Churchill was prime minister until after Germany
had surrendered (not sure about Japan). So, arguably, Churchill was
the one to bring about peace, it just took him five years. Once
successful, he was promptly sacked.
Come to trivia night more and you too might feel it worthwhile to
memorize the last couple of British prime ministers.
